How to read a faint pregnancy-test line without guessing

A line is a line if it has colour. Evaporation lines do not. Timing still matters more than squinting.
Home tests look for hCG in urine. A true positive has colour in the test window, even if it is pale. An evaporation line is colourless, often appears after the time window, and should be ignored.
Testing too early is the usual reason for a false negative. Midwife Pocket’s test-timing calculator uses cycle length to pick the first morning that is worth the stick. If the line is faint, repeat in 48 hours with first-morning urine and the same brand.
The in-app reader only zooms and raises contrast so you can see what is already there. It does not diagnose pregnancy. If you have pain on one side, shoulder-tip pain, or bleeding, that is an ectopic pathway — skip the second stick and seek urgent care.
